Property Inspector WindowPropertInspector.jpg

The Property Inspector has 6 tabs; the transform editor (TE) tab, the material chooser (MC) tab, the material editor (ME) tab, the texture chooser (TC) tab, the texture setting (TS) tab and the font editor (FE) tab.

Information about the material chooser and material editor tabs can be found in Material commands, information about the texure chooser and texture setting tabs can be found in Texturing commands, and the font editor tab is explained in the wiki Font commands.

The transform editor (TE) tab is used when you want to tranform an object. When using this tab it is important to ensure that the object to be changed is first selected from the Object Tree window, the name of the object should appear at the top of the window next to Object name:.

The translation of the object reponds to its position on the 3D axis (the x y z axis), it is broken up into its coordinate on the X axis, it's coordinate on the Y axis and its coordinate on the Z axis. In the beginning the translation of the object is set to 0 for all 3 axis even if that is not the position of your object, so if you wish to change the position of the object through the Translation: option and the object is not at the coordinates [0 0 0] first find the object position (to find out how see the Querying commands) and change the translation to those coordinates, then change the translation to what you see fit.

The Scale: line changes the scale of the object. The Centre: line sets the centre of the rotation.

The Rotation: box on the bottom left of the tab changes the rotation of the object about the centre, and the Scale Orient: box on the bottom right of the tab changes the orientation of the scale of the object. To change the variable in the boxes at the bottom of the tab click and drag the corresponding cubes, and to reset the cubes simply double click on either Rotation: or Scale Orient:.

The Reset button at the bottom of the tab resets every variable to its initial setting.
