Introduction

Methane. (Science: chemistry) A light, colourless, hydrocarbon which is toxic by both inhalation and skin exposure. Also infamously known for being the main substance found in flatulence (the bodily function is actually made up of 59% nitrogen and 21% hydrogen, just saying.) Nevertheless, this blog will explore the structure, composition and characteristics of Methane. Methane contains carbon and hydrogen in the ratio of 1:4 respectively. Since methane is both a powerful greenhouse gas and the simplest and most effective hydrocarbon. It is the main gas found in natural gas piped for use in homes, used to generate electricity and is even used as rocket fuel.

Introduction:

The following post will be about the element phosphorus and its various properties and uses. It is a very complex atom, with a large number of electrons, protons, and neutrons making it up. Its symbol on the periodic table is P and has an atomic mass of 15. It is found in two main forms: White phosphorus and red phosphorus. It is not found free in nature because it is a highly reactive element.

1. An element is a substance that cannot be broken down chemically or physically into a simpler substances. Elements are what makes up the world we live in, and each element has an atom with a different, definitive structure. Phosphorus is the fifteenth element found on the periodic table of elements. Using VRMath2, an online coding software, a 3D model of a phosphorus atom was constructed. The following blog will outline the structure, characteristics and composition of the atom, and explain any difficulties or interesting ideas found during the process of constructing the atom, as well as show an image of and provide a link to the model of the atom on the VRMath2 website.
